The Leidenfrost Effect

I once heated up my pan for too long while cooking.

I added in my butter and the pan smoked and the butter went brown instantly.

Panic, I switched off the stove and pour in water...

I saw a phenomenon which I never seen before. Nor did I bothered to learn up this peculiar incident as it did slipped off my mind after that.

Until today when 9GAG posted this... I gain a new science knowledge.

How funny it is to bump into a science phenomenon when you aren't still aware of the truth and explanation behind it...

Coelacanth - The Fish That Time Forgot

Again the Internet has brought me to places I've never imagined I'd travel.

Why is the finding of the coelacanth (pronounced SEE-LA-KANTH) so mind numbing that it sent the world crazy?

Yes it is an age old fish. A living fossil, which supposed to went extinct together with the dinosaurs millions of years ago.

What made it so famed, that it has been touted as the missing piece of of evolution. The intermediate form of evolution from reptiles to mammals (seen from the perspective of Darwin's Law of Evolution.)

Looking at the picture, one can't be amazed of the amount of limbed fins this fish has. 5 of them at the bottom part of the body. That could be the missing puzzle piece we've been looking for.

MH370

This incident has struck us at a sudden. I'm sure even if you don't know anyone inside the plane, you too are eager to know the latest news of MH370.

It could be one of the most deadliest air tragedies ever to happen. And what rubs salt into wounds that is it happened on a MAS Boeing.

As much as Professor Jeff Rosenthal once said that the chances of an airplane crashing is 0.00001%, this incident will certainly raise questions on air safety. It's very typical. People don't care the 99.99999% of success rates you have. One tiny blot of ink is enough to ruin a perfect parchment.

On the positive note, it is times like this we see mankind coming together as one. People from different countries and religion all praying for a cause - the safety of everyone. Countries who built armies for war and defenses sent out Search and Rescue missions.

Although it is very out of the blue for me to say this in such an event, I'm hopeful that mankind does have what it takes to move forward together.

The good people do take action and give a helping hand.

In someways you are proven wrong Einstein.

UNICEF Tap Project

I came across this quite some time ago (around 2 weeks ago?) And thanks to a random post from 9GAG, I revisited this idea, read about it and think hey it could be legit. Why not try?

You don't even need to install an app. Just log in to the website tap.unicefusa.org to start the challenge. Every 10 minutes you don't touch your phone, you can give a child enough water to use for a day.

If you ask me sincerely, I don't really know how this works out. And yeah it does raise my eyebrows too.

But since TIME is also reporting on this, why not just give it a try?

My phones is already in the 7th minute of the minimum 10. If it does help, then I really wanna help.

And I hope you people reading this do feel the same. #TakeUpTheChallenge.

TOMS - Shoes for Tomorrow

Got started with my first book for my March quota. It's called "START SOMETHING THAT MATTERS" by Blake Mycoskie.

Actually the name didn't really struck me. But once I knew he started up TOMS, I was excited that I picked up this book from a dear friend of mine.

This is the 2nd time I have come across TOMS. First time I remembered coming across this book was in Sir Richard Branson's "Screw Business As usual".

So what's so special about TOMS? Well for every pair of shoes TOMS sell, it will donate a pair to someone who needs it. Put simply, buy a shoe from them, and also buy a pair for someone who needs them, somewhere in this part of the world.

Brilliant move. Still yet to get deeper inside the book. But what this book makes me realize yet again - Start something that matters. Entrepreneurship should be started with a vision great enough, which is to create good and to make the world a better place to live in. The revenues will come easily without you bothering it.

But sometimes.. I wonder why am I still reading books like this when all I really need is to make that first step into entrepreneurship, make that leap of faith...

I gotta firm up my master plan, draft out the major details and perhaps kick start my dreams...

Here's a brief outlook of what the book teaches. Download the pdf overview here
