Bitcoin: The New Currency of The World

A currency, that is independent of any government and bank on the world.

You can even trade it for other currencies (yes as in Forex trading), and some businesses also accept Bitcoins as payment, as Bitcoins can be converted into real world currency.

My say on Bitcoin is: It is one of the things you've gotta know.

Here's a brief summary or explanation on what and how Bitcoins can change our lives: NDTV.com

Backdate 25th November 2013: The Relationship Preempt & Aftermath

Don't know whether this is true or not. But here's a scenario.

Usually the guy is the one who courts or goes after a girl. If you are in a relationship and then married, I notice girls would be extra cautious to keep the guys from straying away.

How true is that? I personally find it quite amusing and true till an extent. Guys always sweat their arses to win the heart of a girl. But after marriage and in fear of their husband straying away, I'd say women will put in more efforts to take care of their looks, facial and body size.

Karma? Justice? Up to personal thoughts. I'd say what goes around comes around XD

Just a random post from a Facebook friend which prompted me with such a thought.

What say you?

Itinerary Plannning

So yeah, I am listing down all the POI (Places of Interest) for my vacation. I know my bro and mum have been doing a lot for this trip. So I figured out to chip in abit of my expertise and effort.

So here am I, updating my blog in the midst of building my master template. I don't know how good it is, but it has all the relevant information, which includes the name of the place, prices, opening and closing time, special close occasion, how to go (tube, train or bus), address and phone number.

So here is the snapshot of my progress. So you know where I'm going now? Hahahaha :)

Vishen Lakhiani: How MindValley Founder Built a $40M Company from just $700

Information overload...

This has got to be the most input I ever have for a period of one hour. By the way at this moment of time I'm just up to 33 minutes plus, which I deduce is 50% of a probably 1 hour interview.

Vishen has explicitly told his stories from how and what he was, to someone he is today.

Rather than go through every single details that is perfectly mapped out in his interview, I'll direct you guys to Mixergy.com for the interview and full transcript.

P.S. I think I'm in love with MindValley.

Backdate 23.11.2013 Ender's Game

Pardon me for my backdates again. I went straight to bed after yesterday's movie.

If you are familiar with my first blog, jpthedarkknight.blogspot.com, you'd know that I like watching movies. And I learn alot from them.

Now this post again is not something new that I've learned though, rather a refresher of what the reality holds.

Colonel Hyrum Graff sees talent in the protagonist, Andrew "Ender" Wiggin. Wiggin was drafted to join a force that defends Earth from Aliens (in this case the Formics).

If you have watched the movie you'd go through Ender's struggles and yet too hard to be true promotion to fleet commander from a cadet in 2 hours time (LOL).

What the movie really made me realized was: The moment people see that preferable trait or strengths in you, you will be used and molded to be what they want from you, instead of what you want to be.

It's a sad case but I think in reality most of us are the same as Ender.

Food for thought: Do you still remember that childhood dream of yours? Or the big life achievement that you want to realize before you die? Compare the life you have now against your dreams. Are they still reachable? Or has society and reality slowly eaten out the life or the person that you wanted to be?

The movie gave me yet another reminder: You only live once. Do not let others shape you into something they want.

The Decision Matrix

I stumbled upon this after being briefed by my colleague and did a bit of research on the real thing.

Truth is I stumbled upon this quite some time ago.But only a few days back I was required to use this to convince my solution choice.

What is a decision matrix? In simple words, you have your rows and columns. For the rows you list down the factors that will impact your choices. For the columns you list down the ideas/solution that comes out from a group brainstorming.

Ideas should not be challenged on the spot. It hinders creativity. So every idea will add on to your columns until you or your group run out of ideas. Then only you let each idea run through the decision matrix against the vital factors or parameters.

To further improve decision making, each factor an idea perform can be rated or quantify in numbers. For example one of your solutions of saving money would be carpooling. In terms of saving money you will safe half of your expenses. If you have a score of 1-5, carpooling will give you a score of 3 (mid-range). If you were to take public transport everytime, and the fare is much much cheaper, you will have a score of probably 4 to5.

After tabulating all the scores from each category, not only we see the best solution out of all the choices, we are also comparing each idea side by side,  with a very clear visibility on the difference. Plus it also serves as a good log book attachments for record keeping purposes.

Decision Matrix come in many forms and customization. The trick is to understand the basics so that drafting your own personalized template is much more easier.

Depending on the issue or problems, decision matrix can be in various forms. But the main backbone of it, which is comparing an idea against a series of factors is always there.

How do you make your decisions and explain it to others?

Am I a masochist?

I'm not sure about this though. Although I am suspicious.

No not in terms of others, but in terms of pressure. Mental pressure. I seem to enjoy it.

Yes I seem to react aloud when something really impossible comes out of the blue during work. But rather than wave it aside as "un-doable", I'll push myself to think and think and think.

The whole struggling process gets me into a mindblown situation, it's stressful and gets me emotional some time. But at the same time when your brain is working that hard that the adrenalin is so dope... Makes you nuts yet so good at times...

During times when I maybe slightly free, I feel restless. Even sometimes during weekend, I feel that need to have that kick of pressure into my system.

From what I see, it's a good sign. It means that I have finally grew out of my complacent stage, where lazing and doing nothing was an absolute satisfaction.

I'm ready for big things to come. And I'm ready to rule the world.

And this is not a proper what-I've-learnt post. More of a self-realization.

The Customer Is Always Right

Right. No I'm not answering or agreeing to the quote and title of my blog.

I am totally against that terminology.

It is over-used. Over exaggerated. Over the limit.

I just came across another incident of a hair saloon giving out bad service and ending up having complains plastered across the social media (thank you facebook)

Now things like this aren't the first time. And it certainly won't be the last.

Not that I am against good customer service, but  is posting up something bad or degrading on the Social Media an act to be encouraged?

Complains can be made in many forms. Even writing to the newspapers would be better than posting it on facebook. On facebook, all this hot and negative news seem to spread quicker.

As a customer, you HAVE the rights to complain. But that doesn't make you God to plan your own vendetta against someone else.

Sadly, most people let their feelings over write the logic part of their head: to really think through before taking an action. Either you are that evil to drive someone out of business just because you are at the wrong end of a bad service, or you're just plain ignorant on the power of the internet and social media.

In a nutshell, the term "The customer is always right" is over-rated, as it is frequently used as a threat against the business. It's just plain evil and unfair.

What do you think?

Feedspot

On mobile I have Flipboard to update myself on the latest info.

Today I've learnt of a new app/platform that allows you to get updated but on PC. Said to be the substitute of Google Reader, its a site called Feedspot.

Now to those of you who does not know what is Flipboard. Basically Flipboard is a mobile app where you get to filter the news and updates of the categories you're interested in. And by acting as the middle-man app between the ever so many blogs out there, Flipboard will filter and show you the relevant categories which you have earlier tick as a favourite.

Similarly, Feedspot allows you to follow blogs and makes them into a log book where you have the updates of the blogs you've followed.

As you can see here, I have subscribed to Mashable, Fast Company and National Geographic. Not to forget also my 5 year old blog which had triggered Feedspot to inform me that it has 20+ followers in the Feedspot community.

Ahh.. The reignited impetus to start writing and blogging... That feeling and that part of me that I thought was dead... It's coming back!

P.S. Thank you Feedspot, if you should see this.
